lower door hinge cracks?

Both the lower door hinges on my 70 RR have cracks on the same place at the hinge spring hole (circled in each photo).
The hinges appear to be in good condition, can i just weld up the cracks after rebuilding them or should they be replaced?

Cracking is common to both 67-76 A-body and 67-70 B-body as they both use the same lower hinges.
Those models didn't use a door check to limit the travel of the door when opened putting a lot of stress on the lower hinges.
About 80 % of the hinge cores sent to us for complete rebuilding have this flaw.
Minor cracking like shown in the pictures is repairable by welding, But it will eventually happen again as it is a design flaw.
We do not sell parts other than main springs, all other parts are custom.

I guess the cracks happen because people just throw the door open, and cuss when it rebounds on to a shin bone.

"V" notch the Crack and weld it.

All you can do is weld it. It will happen again though. Faulty design.
We can do a complete build for you. Unless you ruined them with a Bushing job...

The picture that I posted on the right is a set that someone has drilled out and installed brass bushings with a standard sized pin. The hinge will now no longer accept an oversized pin. The bushings fail.

We also have good cores in stock right now. Let us know if you are interested in keeping your hinges all Mopar. The new hinges sold today are all made in Taiwan. AMD and Goodmark both. I already have people wanting me to fix these. We will only deal with factory cores and USA made components.
