So i tore a 62 413 down and it had the ly rods, only one side of the rod is chamfered where it goes up against the crank filet, tore apart a 71 413, ly rods and it looks to me like both sides of the rod is chamfered, has anybody seen that before

Commonly the rods and pistons went one way and the chamfer was on one side of the big end. This is from my 69 manual.

They are chamfered on both sides, but one chamfer is larger. Also, the bearing will ride towards the small chamfer side. If you just assemble the pistons to rods with the locks out and 1/3/5/7 on the driver (left) side and 2/4/6/8 on the pass (right) side, everything will be fine...
