I hear ya. Think unions had anything to do with rejecting his philosophy? OF COURSE they did!

U.S. manufacturing has been very slow and resistant to changes/changing. Why spend money now on something that promises savings in the future? I've got quarterly production targets to meet so I can get my bonuses and the next promotion! Those aren't my quotes, but I've heard them a million times.

Blame the unions? Nope. I've worked for manufacturing companies with union labor and manufacturing companies with non-union labor...for 40+ years. Here's who to blame...corporate leadership. Why?... they set the culture and tone of everyone below them...bean counters (Finance/Contracts), program management, engineering, and manufacturing.
