I am going to bead blast the rims that are the stock ones that came with the car. My question is, I see that they are painted black and silver...looks like flat black, but is there a correct color for the silver?

not sure if it would be silver argent like on stock rallys or not but that would be a close color to it.I saw an article in the mopar muscle mag a couple months ago a guy repainted the rally rims.can'y remember what month issue it was though, sorry.

I've heard of that; Bead Blasting, but, wonder if that's a moniker that just is used; sort of like Military Intelligence? Seriously, what is bead blasting? glass beads, or ???? I probably and correct in it's just plain ol' Media Blasting, but, not sure.

You pretty much answered your own question. It is in effect a form of media blasting. The media in this case is glass bead. Always use a respirator glass is a major buzzkill on your lungs.

There is no silver paint on the MOPOAR version of those wheels. The spokes aren't painted. If they are, someone did that in the past trying to make them " look better"

The rim should be black also. Not silver

i have some "older" orig rims that are silver.I think you could get them in black or silver.outside the spokes can be silver.inside the spokes can be silver or black.

the spokes are a sort of brushed steel finish with the insets being black , no silver paint

Not sure what the media blast would do to the spoke finish ? would be carefull with that . I would just hand scuff inset area and paint them.

Well, at least I know that they weren't chrome. The spokes are silver now, but the rim itself has a little small rust spots on them. I might sand a little on one of them to see if anything is under it. The rims are 41 years old. I would love to see if I could get the brushed look back in them. Well see.

Yes Donny, Bead blasting is glass beads, it is not as messy as sand. I have a very good professional blaster that will do them cheap, he has been blasting for over 15 years. People take whole cars to him to take the old paint off. I have been reading about people that "soda: blast their cars before painting, but it sounds like it does not take out pitted rust spots. I will keep you posted.
