In the garage. Under the hood. Again.
You know how things just get away from you at times? Like;you have proof that the Chaos Theory does exist in your own life. This is one of those times...

I walked into the cave after a trip to the parts store, went to set some stuff on the counter and proclaimed "WTF has happened here?!?!". I should start with hanging this on the door:

Some of what I encountered:

The old 318 makes a passable table in a pinch:

The only two semi-organized walls;the back room and an inside wall:

At least I'm not piling **** on the car...oh,wait... No worries;just the grille and headlight buckets. On a thick piece of cloth.

OK;some of that crap(the boxes) is intended for the fire-pit out back, the snowmobile is going back into the trailer(when we get some snow),this is going there, that is going...you get the idea. The embarrassing part is that I've never let it get THIS bad.

So-o-o-o,my Mopar brethren;deride me if you will, chastise me if you must, but judge me not! You,yes YOU,have been there as well. Admit it. It's the first step on the road to recovery...

Anybody got the number for Molly Maids?

First off, i have to tell you, I love your row of intakes there and the Valvoline old time set that used to sit beside the gas pumps is priceless, Myself in my small cave, i found out early that in a 18-20 shop, if i do not keep it cleaned and everything in its place i cant work in it! I may be putting up a larger one this summer, not that much but i will consider keeping it clean as well just to save myself a headache.. I really like that Valvoline oil set up there, where in the world did you find it? I have a couple cans and the old pour spout but yours is cool!!!

Nice stash! I've got a 24x32 and still have to turn sideways to get to a lot of my stuff. Back in my single days I couldn't find my wallet for three weeks. It was in a pile of clothes on the bedroom floor... Now that I'm married to somebody who is actually organized I limit my chaos to the garage and basement. :)

Guilty as charged as I'm intimately familiar with Capt. Chaos. This is my living room, bedroom and kitchen area. Yes, the dark gray wheels are real magnesium and I do like to water ski! What do you mean the 66 Belvedere grille doesn't match the decor?? But I will say that I have seen worse - or better if you will - and can't compete with my buddy who has a 427 side oiler in his kitchen. Yes, we are single.

Thanks,Ron. I was really into the gas/oil stuff;my second divorce made me sell a bunch of stuff. Kept the Valvoline items(been using that since the 1970's) and a couple of globes;other stuff has filtered into the garage since then. The display rack is an early 1960's item;it's got some corrosion, but still looks good. Got that about 15 years ago at an auction;actually had two of them, and traded one with a friend for some goodies.

I'm planning on either a small(?) pole barn,or a 3-bay garage-might as well use the cement area I've got rather than spending 10Grr+ for a new foundation! Boy;am I gonna hit you guys up for suggestions when that takes place!

Meep;that looks like a proper bachelor pad. Yes;a Satellite grille and real Mag wheels are part of a proper decor for a guy-why don't women understand that? I've already informed Laura that I plan on assembling the 440 in the great room of the house(rarely used) because of the "clean" aspect. She looked at me like I had three heads, then realized that 1)we're NOT married, therefore the aspect of "control" is not there and 2)the mortgage is in MY name. I love it when people "get it". Avoidance of unneeded explanation is a plus in my book!

Good stuff guys. I'd be willing to bet that the more space that you make for yourself the more stuff that you'll find to put in it. At least that's how I roll.

X2!!! Mornin',bud! Wiser men than myself have often told me that the way to attract more "stuff" is to create more room for said "stuff". Some kind of "magnetic effect". If that were a universal truth,it would mean that if I get a bigger wallet, theoretically, the extra space would attract more "$tuff". Interesting;I may have to try that...I'll let you know how that goes.

Sorry brother, at that point you have crossed the line into "If something sounds too good to be true it probably is". The only thing having a bigger wallet is going to get you is more depressed about what little room the money is taking up inside it.

maid

making more room for more stuff, when we are over maxed with so much that we cant stop collecting your family and friends truly beleive we have become horders:icon_thumright::icon_thumleft::laughing4:

I say, "More shelves higher up & storage in the rafters"...LOL... I'm guilty of keeping too much stuff, not as bad as I was years ago, it seems like when I end up giving away or selling something, it seems the other parts multiply on their own, it's a vicious cycle... what's good ?, what do I want to keep just in case ?, or what to keep because someone will want this if they choose to restore something back to completely stock etc. ? the excuses go on & on for me...

I had so much stuff in the rafters that my roof started to sag so I pulled down most most of the heavy stuff and rented a storage building, added a loft and filled it up. Sure was nice having a shop that I could move around in again. That was years ago. In September of 2010, I got tired of paying the rent so I moved out and filled my shop back up good and tight and it's taken me over a year to sort through it all and get rid of it. My small shop is only 28x52.....
