Looking at converting to power steering in the 64 Belv. I have acess to a 73 A body Power Box. What else will I need to change except the shorter column? What is the deal with pitman and idler arms? Can I use the manual pitman and idler arms with the power box? If I used a 63-65 B Body box and column do I need to change the pitan and idler arms? Sorry for so many questions.

Mac

Pitman and Idler arms are fine--no replacement necessary. The box should bolt right up and and the shorter shaft is also a bolt-in. The Federal pump units are harder to find--typically costlier too--I'd suggest going with a Saginaw pump with new hoses. Steer & Gear in Columbus has every power steering hose for every Mopar--check them out. Bouchellon Performance should have the brackets--pump--maybe even the hoses you'll need. Be sure to "bleed" the pump--instructions are easily downloaded--they're on several web sites. Good luck. Bob

Thanks for the info. I have the early type pump with the brackets and hoses. They came with the car. I think I'll put new hoses on anyway in case of trouble.

Is your manual box tight? I have a new in box set up for ps w/pump and steering box. Wanna trade? if so pm me and I'll see what manufacturer the pump is.

In my opinion, my box is not good enough to do a swap. I'd love to but I'd rather be honest up front.

Now there is a stand up guy!! You dont run into many people with morals anymore!!

How much slop is in the manual box? My nephew is looking for one for his 67 'Net and he can deal with some.....

I just didn't like the feel of it. I'll try to get some idea and let you know.

P.S. Thanks 5.7 Hemi, I'd rather be honest than rip somebody off. Just the way my family was raised. 20(and counting) years in the Canadian Forces didn't hurt either.

No problem.
