Martin's way: '69 Coronet

They all fell victom to youthful ignorance... Or something like that. To put it bluntly. I know where the Red and the Butterscotch cars are at. Im not sure about the Green one. It was very rusty, but not as rusty as the Coronet I have now... Lol. Chalk 'em up to life expieriences and lessons learned. It's one of those CouldaWouldaShoulda deals. I think that everybody has had some of those regarding Mopars. But I got one now and know exactly what I want and how to get it there. :3gears:

Yea, it still stings a little :eusa_boohoo: but it's all good now and will be even better when I'm cruising down I-20 at 70 mph with the windows up, the A/C on, getting 20mpg and jammin' to 'Born to be Wild' by Steppenwolf.:icon_super: Oh Yea. Future's lookin' good...

Thanks.

I like the look of this car that 6PKRTSE posted a pic of in another thread.
Similar color but closer to the red on my old Bee. Similar wheels to start with and same wheel lip and rocker moulding trim. '69 style stripe across the rear but with no Super Bee or R/T logos. No badges in grill or anywhere else for that matter. Only lettering at all will be the tail light trim pannel and Scat pack Bee in 1/4 windows... Tinted windows... I have a power bulge hood also... Red and black interior.....

It will be a while, but ya gotta have a goal... I wish I had photoshop on this pc so I could alter this pic a bit to give me a better look...

Another car I like the look of and that I find inspirational. No idea who's it is but I like it. Hope he does not mind me posting this pic which was forund on Google.

Thinking of this look but with black 17" steel wheels (from a late model 300 or Charger base model) and chrome lug nuts in a Six Pack style and look...

While in San Angelo over the last several days, I went through my parts stash left over from the Red car. Found all kinds of stuff I had completely forgotten about in the last 8-10-12 years.

I found a set of taillights, 2 sets of 69 grills with headlight buckets, all the metal parts for a 69-70 auto console(top plate, lid etc), a 69 power bulge hood a little rough but has inserts, 69 decklid, a dissassembled 8 3/4 742 carrier complete with a clutch style sure grip and 3.55:1 gears!, a pretty nice fender for the passenger side, whole bunch of brake parts including a NIB spring kit, front and rear bumpers, fairly decent and fixable set of deluxe door panels,Front and rear window trim, a box of Rally instuments, clocks, ammeters, oil pressure, a disassembled but complete A-833, hurst shifter with a non console handle, 4 b body drive shafts...... and so on... LMAO

Some of this stuff I had no memories of at all but it felt good to see what I had forgotten about... A big block with a 4speed is beginning to make alot of sense...

Pics later... :icon_thumright:

will enjoy the pics when you get them on here.

Some of the goodies I brought home...

Also picked up this '71 Dart that I bought along with the Coronet. Finally got to go get it. I gave it to Dad along with a 360, an 8.25 rear and what ever else he needs off on any of my parts cars to get the '71 going. It looks more rough than it really is. Very little rust. Will not need any replacement due to rust but it will need front and rear valances. Which I have. He had better get started....lol :sleepy2:

both cars look good. yours and your dad's car. doesn't look like there's too much to do to get them back in top shape.

I like that Coronet on those steelies, with the cop centers!
I happen to be a BIG fan of the cop wheels, and the cop center caps are just the icing on the cake!

That Dart is a looker, too! With all of the stuff you gave him, it sounds like your dad has an easy project on his hands!

Thanks guys. Thats the good side of the Dart....lol The other side needs a bit of beatin'.(see pic) It needs it work, but all in all, considering how complete it is, what I paid for it and all the other parts I have, it could be done for a reasonable cost. Will have to wait and see what Dad decides he wants to do with it. (Although, I've built it a dozen times in my head... :D

I like those wheels too... :) They look like they grew there. Im gonna have to get some smaller width tires for the fronts but the ones that are on there now would work great for the rears of that dart....255's. Ive spent so long hoarding and collecting parts and cars that its all starting to come together. I just got a new job too so maybe I can actually spend some money on the Coronet soon.

I plan to keep it (Coronet) real simple and doing a section at a time as I can. I have a good fender now and a r-rear patch panel etc. I did get it running btw! Carb rebuild kit, battery, ignition switch...fired right up. Amazing after it sat for 10-11 years.

aw heck,a hammer and dolly on the drivers side and it will be good as new.lol.at least it looked like it didn't get creased.

I think it will beat out ok. It's really not that bad up close. No creases. All the trim along the center of the body is gonna go anyway. Dad is getting excited. Thats the best thing.

are you building it back to stock or does dad want a play toy?

He and I both want it to be a play toy. But, the first stage will be super low buck, using what we have to get it running and safe.
Basically like this:
73 360 4bbl out of a 74 Duster 360 Basic rebuild with new bearings, rings, gaskets, maybe a cam. Stock iron 4bbl intake manifold.
inexpensive headers. Unless some 340-360 manifolds land in my lap
auto trans with a rebuild and a shift kit used converter(still dont have these yet)
rebuild front and rear suspension maybe some poly bushings
FMJ disk brake conversion
8.25 rear with 3.21gears Maybe a sure grip or locker - rebuild drum brakes
new wind shield
required bodywork primer
recover seats, new carpet, dye door panels dash cap etc.

Just the basics and the minimum utilizing what I have on hand. Look for a thread at some point on FABO. I made Dad an account there. His handle is Jim58.

Cool project. My buds a bee guy has a green 69 bee and a metallic green bee convertible 1 of none he crafted from a coronet vert that is really cool

Sweet 4door...

I have not worked on it much. Bought a tail light trim panel for it but that's it.

But I am about to buy a trio of 68 coronets. Should provide enough parts to get a running bucket seat console shifted 500 out of the deal. I'll post some pics later..

:D

Means that I'll have to give up most of my abody stuff but oh well it will be worth it in the end.

The 500 needs a lot of work but is a solid foundation. More solid than my 69.

Between the 3 68's I should have enough parts to get a good runner out of it plus I got some parts for the 69 in the deal too...

I'm Stoked!

The 68 is looking like it will get a stock 400 to start with... Me and prine have already been talking about a turbo for it...

I'm a glutton for punishment. What else can I say? LOL :D
