Hey guys I am building a 1964 fury into a super stock clone. I have a 426 street wedge bare block, anyways I am going to build the 426.. but I have a original mopar max wedge cross ram. I want to use the cross ram... but max wedge heads are tough to come by.. is there am iron head that can be opened up or am I going to have to go with indy or edelbrock?

Trick Flow 270s are also Max Wedge size ports, and unless another forum member can give a reason why they wouldn't work with the crossram, those are what I would use.
Those are so FINE looking!
Best of luck with the build!

If you are going to use headers, instead of the original cast exhaust manifolds, use aluminum heads. The weight savings is worth it. I'm using newer MP Iron Max Wedge heads, Exhaust Manifolds, and an A&A Intake. My engine will be an anchor...

Yes it will be running headers for sure.. I dont want an exact clone just something simple

trick flows wont work on a 426 block bore is to small you need a 4.32 bore to use them

If it is a street car I'd put a 4.25 stroke crank in that 426 block so you have some cubes. You can use either the Trick Flow 270 head or the Indy EZ heads with the MW port. The other Indy heads might be too big for a street car. I think the TF 270 heads would be the best bet since they come out of the box already ported and the quality is really good on them.

Your engine builder will need to verify valve to cylinder clearance and you might need to make some adjustments. I run Trick Flow heads on a 426W block and don't have any clearance issues but it is something that has to be confirmed before getting too far into the build.

i just checked on the summit racing web site looked up the trick flow 270 heads it says 4.32 minimum bore

i am not trying to be a know it all i thinking about doing the same thing and did some research on it you maybe be able to cut a relief in the cylinder .bore for valve to cylinder wall clearance

I didn't have to cut reliefs on my 426W block for the Trick Flow heads.

then trick flow should talk to summit racing about the specs it says 4.32 minimum bore . what is the bore on your 426 is it 4.25 or bored 70 over ? just asking i would like build a faster motor and i has a std bore 426 world block wedge thanks

My block is a virgin standard block that is mint.. doesnt need bored out... looks like it was NOS lol

Stealth heads can pretty easily be opened up to work satisfactorily with the factory MW manifold.

A guy I knew opened up a pair of iron heads to max wedge ports. Only saw them a few times and never really looked carefully but no welding. Is my memory fuzzy? The real question if you can is it worth the trouble.
