hi doing the finishing touch on a max wedge clone car i would like to run dog dish on the front only i know that the original were 10 inch but does anyone know if a 9 inch reproduction cap that looks close is being made i dont want to change the rims and are the vented tubes on the max wedge trunk mounted battery factory installed or did the racers do this set up thanks

I don't t know of anyone making a 9" version of the early hub caps. If you have a Dodge, I like the '69-'71 "Red Stripe" cap. If a Plymouth, I favour the '68 Plymouth/RoadRunner hub cap. Although they don't look like originals, they are attractive caps, with a bit of style. My opinion only.

Are these the hub caps for a road runner you talked about i have nice set of 4 now but I see other versions of these caps that look chrome

Very nice Plymouth! The caps you show are generic Volare/Aspen from the '70's, I think. Yours are the aluminium ones, but they also came in stainless steel and are brighter. With holes punched around the outside of the face, they became Police wheel hubcaps. The '69 Plymouth cap was similar to this with "Plymouth Motor Division" stamped into them. The '68 cap that I mentioned is a bright stainless cap with a raised centre cone with the Plymouth "rocket" embossed on it. It is a 9" version of the previous year's 10" cap. I am not technically advanced enough to grab pictures and post them, so, maybe someone else can.

This '68 Barracuda has the hub caps I was describing. Also on a friend's '63 Plymouth and on a '68 RoadRunner.

The caps you want aren't aftermarket. They're early A-body. They have a similar pattern to the 10" caps but are a 9" cap. E-berg had an article about it in Mopar Action years ago. He runs them on his '62 Plymouth.
