the place was packed, cars all the way out into route 46. at least 1000 cars. track prep still not there yet. needs another weekend plus it was 91 degrees

Here's a report from a friend of mine who raced at the Grand Reopening at Island this past weekend. He did pretty good for himself.
Island Dragway reopened this past weekend under new management,( PLEASE NO NEGATIVE COMMENTS) I am only stating facts/ news. Friday night was a success with close to a thousand spectators, Saturday was a regular eliminator day with no points, car count was a little light because many former/present Island racers are running points at other tracks, An abbreviated Points season starts next week end. Sunday was a Nostaglia Meet with Four Trophy classes,a car show and a few test and tuners attendance was pretty good considering the heat. Island has been my home track for over twenty five years and when it closed I started racing at another track with little success mostly my own fault. I was hoping going " home " would change my luck / turn my season around, well I Won Street Eliminator last night ( four rounds) and was runner-up today in N2 ( 10.00 - 11.99 ) to quote a country song : " who says you can`t go home?" I can`t wait for Points to start next week!
