I have an Edelbrock pump that has started leaking fuel through the gasket. Is there a rebuild kit for these?

Also, was looking at a possible replacement. Any recommendations? I have looked at the carters on summit which look very similar to the OEM for around half the cost of the Edelbrock pumps, but don't know how they are quality-wise. This is for a 383. Thanks!

I run a Carter M6903 and have been happy with it.

Eddi make's a kit that would save you some Green !
I like there pumps and have run them. Carter is good also But if you already have the pump just rebuld it.

How much fuel do you have to feed that 383? I have a stock 6pac pump on my 440 with a 850 Holley and it works fine.

The motor has 330hp at the crank, so not much. The edelbrock works well with the carb I have so I'd like to keep running it, but I can't find the rebuild kits for sale.. may try the carter. Thanks for the suggestions.

I'm running a M6903 also. Got it from Mancini's.
My original M6903 was from '89 and it took a dump last spring. Figured I just order a rebuild kit for $40 and be on my way. Wrong, the diaphragm in the rebuild kit was no where close to fitting. Sent it back and bought another M6903. Of course I was the first one to have that problem.

i'm surprised that pump is leaking past the diaphragm. i'd try looking at the screws to see if any are loose. the edelbrock mechanical is a carter 6903 with a few mods. i like 6903's and never had one fail. the rebuild kits that mancini sells are junk, don't buy them!

Agree about the rebuild kits. Where do you get a good rebuild kit for them? Searched the 'net and only came up with Mancini.

don't think there any rebuild kits. i've got one thats been on the car since about '85; still pumping good. never had one break. they're not super complicated to take apart and diagnose.

Yes, they are simple, have seen videos and threads on rebuilding them with new valves and diaphrams. So when mine died after 24 years figured a kit would take care of it. Not so much. Pump was $36 back in '89, now they are $100. Just a little inflation.
Figured I had good luck with the old one might as well give it another go.

you sure got your money's worth out of that one! i'd just get a new one and move on. you might save the old one for spare parts.
