So, it's coming up on six in the morning. Christmas day. I haven't even started my coffee a brewing yet. I should probably tend to it. My girlfriend and I are past the waking up to crumbsnatchers chomping at the bit to tear apart what's under the tree. This day isn't as shiney as it used to be. But still, there are moments.
I thought this day was going to be just the two of us. My oldest daughter lives with her mom in another state. As had been the usual for the past few years, my youngest had jumped a ticket to spend Christmas with them a couple of days ago. So, imagine my suprise when I get awoken from a loud snore to see both of my beautiful darlings staring me in the face at two in the morning. Women can be so coniving. They really pulled one over on this old dog and I believe this to be truly one of the best presents of my life.
I could go on and write some blubbery crap about what this day is. I could fill a paragraph or two about religion or commercialism, when this day rolls around. But, I won't. Everyone has their own take on it. You're welcome to it.
For me, it's just about being with the ones you love. Your family. Your friends.
So now that I have proven that I really need coffee. I will say this to my friends here. I will extend this to the peeps and lurkers of these threads. I will extend this to all.
Merry Christmas
(Now I really need that coffee....)
