Metal flashing question

Temps are dropping , sanding the charger down to factory primer. Some areas I will have to sand to metal. I will not be able to epoxy prime for a couple days. Do I can spray etching primer on it so it doesnt flash on me? Or the day I spray the epoxy just sand it again? Thanks Dave

It is really drying out with the temp drops so flash rust is less likely then when it's humid out. I would proceed and scuff with a red Scotch Brite prior to applying the epoxy.

You should never cover etch primer with epoxy. Maybe just spray epoxy on the amount of metal you can clean each day?

I had my 68 Plymouth stripped by media blasting a couple weeks ago and it’s barely flashed, it takes a lot of time to prep imo for epoxy, cleaning the deck lid and hood structures really sucked. I’ve been lucky with the humidity being low it’s barely had a few spots and they cleaned right off, then I smooth the entire panel with 180, then epoxy it and it’s up good sealed up then.

In a similar vein, a good friend of mine blasted a 69RR and it sat in a barely heated garage in midMichigan for 20 years or so without any visible rust? It is finally getting paint! He was doing the project to present to his daughter when she turned 16. She's in her early 40s today!
