im looking for a mini starter for a big block that's not going to break the bank.

Powermaster - not cheap but not that expensive either. Doesn’t get as hot as so many of them do.

Just look on ebay for a 2001 Dodge van 318 starter.
You will get all kinds of opinions on cheap starters. But if you have a budget get what you can afford. The one below is less costly. I put one on my friends work van and it does the job. These bolt up to big blocks no problem. You may have to cut the power post off a bit for clearance. Or buy a terminal relocation kit from the guy who sells them here.
This one is 63.00 HERE

There's like ten threads on here about mini starters.
Must be a generational thing.
Why put a little effort into researching a question that has been answered a 100 times over when a new thread can be started and suck up yet even more of the infinite drive space?
The "green" generation.

No more effort than it takes to complain about it I guess.

Google ‘dB electric’ in Michigan(I think).

I went to a local electric starter/alternator rebuilder shop and bought mine for $80. It was rebuilt and had a heat shield on it.

I normally go with this.

Funny thing is everyone that posted a link to the DB starter, its the same one I posted in the first place.

Maybe make one of the topics a sticky?

The picture of the DB Electrical starter shows an offset stud which seems like a good idea. On a lot of mini starters the electrical stud is close to the block but the one in the pictures is offset in a plastic housing. It would be interesting to see that starter mounted on a big block to see how it fits.
