Competition Engineering sells a Mild Steel 8 pt kit
haven't bought from them in a while but the one I bought 15 years ago
was a decent kit, a little room for adjustments
I use to hang out with Chris Alston's foreman Jim some,
He was part of our Calif. Outlaw P/S racing Assn.
he was a great guy, great fabricator to aid in advice on custom roll-cages or roll bars
when I lived in Rancho Murieta {southeast Sac. Co.}
he custom bent some chrome-moly 4130
0.095" & 0.120" wall x 1-3/4" bars/tubing, struts & hoops for me
Could some of you guys post some more pics of how/where you welded your upper shoulder harness mount bracket/s to the shoulder bar behind the seat plz?. I see cudatom's and thinking that is the way I need to do mine but want to make sure. And how thick should that metal be? And are there any specific rules about that bracket or harness attachment? I thought this might be good info to add to this thread for others and myself. My $350 Jegs kit looked like the one in the 2nd pic that budnicks posted. The main bar was pre bent for a B-body.
I wrapped my belts on the bar instead of welding brackets. Then I put bolt on collars on each side of the belt so it does not slide along the bar. I will try and get photos later.
Got done putting a cage in my car this winter. If you guys are looking for some more reference material... Originally was just going with a 8 pt, but I really wanted the extra safety of a 10 pt. Just something to think about.
