Help!!
I'm sure this is not a unique dilemma- Missing fender tag & BS for '68 GTX (RS23L8G143300) Has anyone been able to have them reproduced and how to go about it. Also, how to find out any build info on this car. Any info would be great!

The car originally was from the Indianapolis area. Silver/ 4 speed
I've looked everywhere in the car for the BS and found notta
where are the NON normal places for BS?

Thanks
will the number stamped in body, etc. (VON?) help with finding anything?

Though not illegal, repop fender tags are frowned upon, as over the years too many unscrupulous people added options, etc. So, the only hopes you have to find out what the car was built with would be finding Your original BS or fender tag. On Moparts there's a section to post and search.
Though not verifiable, looking at the car and what it has should tell a lot about what it is. 4 speed hump? AC? Hopefully somewhere your tag or sheet exists. If not, it is still a ________. According to the VIN.

Not to be negative, but build sheets were never meant to be still in the car, so finding one is pure luck. I don't know why so many guys wish for build sheets.

I would have thought that the other 'hidden' numbers on the body would be more helpful? Or is the problem that without a fender tag or BS, you cannot verify ANY of the options?

I got the info from chrysler registry to get a tag made for my car so if challenged on anything,I have the paperwork to support what's done. Bad news is I have been waiting since january for delivery

Correct-I just want to verify how the car was built (optioned),when built, etc. from factory. I'd be easy if fender tag was not missing!

Is the registry same as Historical Services? they only provide info for 1967 & earlier

Which registry is that? I lost my fender tag when working on my car ( it was in my truck to be safe and my truck was stolen ) and I was so sickened that I stopped work on the car. It's still mostly original (paint, top, most of the interior) and because of what it is, it should be easy to make a new tag, I would guess. By that I mean that if you have a 1969 Coronet and an engine code of M, then that pretty much proves its an A-12 Super Bee. With 45,000 miles and still in original paint, I'd be happy to have anyone validate it for a "legal" tag. Getting a new tag would get me restarted. I know the original 6-pack setup is gone forever. I'm just looking for something to get me re-motivated. The car has been sitting in a barn since I quit working on it 26 years ago. Yes, the loss of that tag makes me that sickened.

My 67 coronet, the info was provided by dodge charger registry...www.1966-67chargerregistry.com... They sent a poor photo copy of the build card ,but legible, I got another place to decode and send perfect build cards..now waiting for fendertag. I don't know what year they stop at but inquiring for help or info on another source is an option

You have another place..Why not tell us? You think it might be info other owners might like too?

being thanked 58 times in 48 posts I take exception to the reasoning I am holding anything out. I gave all the information I had

SO where is it? I'm not trying to make you angry, but simply want to know where this 'other place' is..Seems simple enough request to me mate.

The place that decoded and cleaned the data card has nothing to do with fender tag restorations

I'm finding I have the same problem TekHouseE. I thought one could discuss and get help on just about anything on this forum. I guess fender tag is a four letter word. I have my build sheet, numbers matching car and asked for some help to decode the format for a replacement and the response I got was as if I farted in church.

Either that mate or some people post but really don't have a clue..:iamwithstupid:

What I really want to know is after spending 20 or 30 grand on restoring a car, why can't we have perfectly restored tags? It is something that has bugged me since I started with cars back when I was 15..Which is long bloody time ago..seeing as I am 46 now! ;)
