I picked up a 73 satellite awhile back, and notice it was missing its fender tag. Why would someone go through the effort of removing it?

fender tag collectors got you :blob1:

A number of reasons: restoration or souvenir, in most cases it will get lost when removed.

I wouldn't worry about it; it's not going to hurt the value at all.

ah, thought someone was trying to do something sketchy with the car in the past

I take them off to paint or to photocopy.

I will admit that I misplaced the one for my 70 Bee, and had to sell it without.

I found it a few years later, and have posted it in the lost and found on this site.

Every once in a while I have seen people listing tags for sale. I never thought there was a big market for them but maybe there is.

I took mine off because one of the screws vibrated out. I put it in a safe place and I'll be damned if I can remember where that is. Been looking for it for 10+ years. I had one made up for shows.

I don't always agree with you runner but I'm glad you are back. I hope you find that fender tag but you might as well go look in the last place you'd think it would be now.

Never left TH. Just other **** to do. I like poking around here between projects.

Very well could be, but removing them should have been from the start as illegal as changing the VIN!

Then they should have been stamped into the sheet metal like the VIN numbers and not a screwed on plate. It's a car for christ's sake.

We arent goin to get anywhere if you hold back man! Woo woo... stamped into the sheet metal! instead of a plate, very good idea!
