Busy winter lot boat shows in South Florida, but I’m back at it and most the car parts have been painted body rolls into the booth this coming week.


Big thanks to a member on another forum As I used his suggestion for painting my dash frame with Rust-Oleum fine textured black paint #7220. Worked great and looks as close to original as I can find. Inside of the frame was painted with Eastwoods detail gray to replicate the bare steel look, but without the factory overspray to keep it light under the dash.

To help soften the texture of the rust oleum paint I lightly sanded the dash with 800 grit paper and applied a coat of Krylon semi-flat paint to help smooth out some of the texture. This work great along with the plastic dip that I re-coated all the wire harness clips with.

Tell me about it. Just went to the paint store yesterday. They keep cutting me deep. Hard to keep giving fair prices on these dang paint jobs. New rules. I give out labor prices. And they go buy materials. Lol.

It's his son's Bullit Mustang recreation (I think). This charger will be the car to go with it. The display of these two cars will draw crowds for sure!

See the progress of that build is very cool! Since the beginning of your thread I can't to see the car finally rebuild and back on all 4! My dad had a gt390 4-speed from 68 too sadly we had to sell it. I love that body line, and your son's fastback is a beauty too!

Now I have my bird project that I'm working on since 2014 (just like you) hopefully it will end this year! The car is in the paint shop right now. Still have a lot to do on the power train everything else is now done!

Keep up that awesome work can't wait to see the body painted!

After spending about 10 days wiping down the spray booth I now have the car body in there and getting ready for paint ;-)
