What I was referring to (post #20) was the fact that Darthomas used to live about an hour from me and was kind enough to wire in a plug to my Factory AM/8 track so I could play my Ipod. I suspect I would have had a hard time finding "a local radio-TV-electronics guru" to do the job (post #19).

I just installed a Retro Sound knob radio in the 64 Belvedere a week ago. Have new speakers but only have one in front and one in back. I am happy with the fit and sound . I have not had the car out on the road yet.

I intsalled the retro sound head unit in my 69 coronet last year, and live it. They key is to not use retro sound speakers. I bought Rockford Fosgate speakers, 6x9’s in the rear and 3.5’s inthe front. I bought the custom 3.5 speaker bracket for the front. I can’t remember who I got it from but there is someone on this forum who makes them. It’s not expensive at all and bolts right in. By all means my radio is no where near the sound quality as a newer car but it gets the job done. I can hear it just fine while driving 50 mph down the road with the windows down. I would recommend adding in an amp to those who want a louder and better quality sound. Retro sound also makes an amp that works with their unit that is a simple install. If anyone is interested in the sound PM me and I can send you a video with it on.

You will need an amp to hear anything if you have headers or a louder than stock exhaust .
I didn't want to cut any holes in my interior so my son just bought me a Bluetooth speaker that connects to my phone .
For 600 bucks you can buy an alpine stereo that plays CDs and has Bluetooth maybe hide it in the glovebox add an amp or two with some quality speakers and have great sound .
I do like the idea of the retro look and still having my glovebox though have just heard mostly
Bad comments on playability and sound for the money on the retro units .

I’ve been lurking about radios also and have figured it all out——— run stock, turn it off, and play through your memories! Back in the day it was AM , now AM is hardly anywhere. I don’t know what to do. I know “bladecutter” will throw out a useful thought!
