Mopar engineering that ticks you off!

How about the left handed lugs??? I mean, really?? Why?? How many were snapped off by unsuspecting tire changers over the years??

The insanely complicated headlight system on the 66-67 Chargers. There are 2 kinds: ones that dont work and ones that are about to not work...ditto for the electroluminecent dash lights.

The really narrow engine compartment to fit a really wide BB or Hemi.

Pressed-on front brake drums. I really don't see any reason for this other than making a brake repair difficult and expensive.

The left handed lug nut thing was actually a proven safety thing. Buick and a few others did it as well. The pressed on drums were for balance and truing at the factory.

Can't help you on the headlights. They suck.

Can't say I've ever really had any issues with the electrical systems. My '65 has two heavy steel tabs with screw lugs on the bulked connector (body side) as opposed to having the charge wires go through the tabs in the bulkhead connector itself. I have to think that if you don't ask the electrical system to do more than it was originally intended to do you shouldn't have any problems. Not too many people had 400 watt stereo amplifiers and Kicker boxes back in the sixties, nor did they put 140 amp alternators in place of the 30 amp (I'm being optimistic here) units that originally came with the cars. The worst thing you could do to these things is try to start the car with a weak battery. It puts way to much demand on the electrical system.

For what it's worth, I bypassed my ammeter and run a 60 amp Denso internally regulated alternator. The elex systems on these cars are pretty simple and easy to deal with.

I agree with Detmatt--burying the fasteners for the dash UNDER the windshield is absurd--gotta remove the entire windshield to get to them. Also, how difficult would it have been to engineer the oil filter mount in a vertical position so you're not imitating an oil-filled lawn sprinkler with each oil change?

This applies to all makes:

How much easier would it be to service a heater core if there were a simple flat sheet metal plate with a gasket, screwed/bolted to the FRONT of the firewall????????

I have magnetic business cards that go on my fenders when it's time for any visit that might be cause to have someone else remove a wheel:

Here's another one:

Any "serviceable" item that requires "special tool J-whatever number".

newer hemi trucks with two filter tranny filters. Why have a screw on filter inside the pan? Just dumb if you ask me.

What's with the exagerated engine offset, other manufacturers seemed to work their way around the steering. Chrysler was building the cars from scratch.......but somehow it turned out looking like something Cleatis and BillyBob dropped in the hole after swinging it off an Oak tree with summa that there fencin wire.

Oh yeah, I hate reading that!

...and it's usually buried in step 17 of a 20 step procedure, which you don't notice until the system you're working on is already totally disassembled.

We bought a "learn to juggle" kit for my wife's son a few years ago.

The text read "while ball "A" is in mid air, throw ball "B", and while ball "B" is in mid air, BUT BEFORE YOU CATCH BALL "A", throw ball "C".

* you may notice that this is difficult......

...and that was the entire kit. 3 balls an a 3x5 card with two sentances.

How about early F-body (Aspen, Volare) fenders that rusted out in a yeare or two and had to be recalled?

Very cool. Won't work in my neighborhood, though. (It's in the wrong language).
