hi guys I'm looking to replace the starter on a 1964 dodge polara 383. Just wondering if mopar makes a gear reduction starter for a 383 big block? if they do would anyone have the part number? The starter on it has a large amp draw and it's killing the battery.

Your '64 should have already been using the gear reduction starter. AFAIK everything from 1962 onward used the reduction gear, from /6 to 440. Except for '66-69 Hemi.

If you want less draw, perhaps you need to look into a newer Japanese mini starter such as the mid 90's truck 360 used. Check these numbers:

Before you blame the starter have you checked battery connections and all ground locations for metal to metal contact. If everything checks out have to starter checked at a good electrical shop. Should cost about the same to rebuild as a remanufactured.
