Hi

I have come across the moniker "HP2", can someone please tell me what this stand for?

Thanks

Some say Hemi Powered Plymouth. The early (built before the end of '65) '66 Hemi Satellites had the HP2 emblem on the fenders instead of the more common 426 Hemi emblems. @dadsbee has one of them.

Hemi Powered Plymouth = HP squared = HP2. I bet that some guy in marketing thought that was pretty slick... and then they got tired of explaining what it meant!

It's said 53 or less were badged that way and that # includes Satellites, Belvedere II and Belvederes. Believe I have the only one driving in Canada, just rolled it past 10,000 miles.

NOS scripts I picked up from a guy in Vancouver back in May.

I was told many many years ago from the owner of one of those cars(good friend at the time) that the HP2 that the little placard on the fender meant, Hemi, phase two, as it was the second phase of the Hemi engine. first being the race engine, second being the street engine. it makes as much or more sense than the other explainations I have heard. he bought the car from the first owner, factory racer Paul Lance. the car was a gift from Chrysler, he altered the wheel base in 65 and pretty much ruined the car, his match races went to shet and the last I heard, the car had been crushed for scrap. sad! Dave. PS the aluminan race car was a 64 ply

I've also been told it means Hemi Powered Stage 2.. but seeing the 2 is intentionally made smaller (as you would with the "squared" 2 in mathematics) the Hemi Power Plymouth = HP2 makes more sense as they didn't put HP2 on the Dodges!
