Hello all....looking for some advice. I purchased a hydraulic roller cam that will be ground on a steel billet core (8660?). The core will be induction hardened. I was told that because it is induction hardened, I can use the standard Mopar Performance distributor gear and shaft.

I always thought you needed the special distributor gear (melonized or coated ?) or the bronze gear. Would like to stay away from bronze though.

If the induction hardening makes the surface of the cam “harder” than the mopar performance gear, can this gear be used?

Thanks

Did the cam manufacturer tell you this information? If so, and they are a well established brand, I would trust their statement.

I believe Mancini and or Hughes Engines sells the special gear you are looking for.
