Hi I have 2 starters that were in my trunk on my 68n RR when I got it, pn 2875553 / 053051 13A with a 74 date on it and the other is 3755259 5305 also has a 74 date, 1 works but klunks the other does not start. Will either of these work on my 383 engine, also the engine is a 1971 was also in the car when I got it, is it worth rebuilding 1 out of both or sell them on e-bay and buy one from a auto parts store? Thanks Phil

Are both starters the same size? All the starters interchange between big and small block engines but they did make one that had more HP and it has a longer body by about 1/2" or so. Other than that (except the Hemi starter) they interchange.

I've read other posts that you can use a 1993 Dodge Dakota/1500 truck starter as well.. Factory dodge gear reduction starter. I forget the engine size you want but a search should turn it up easily enougn.

I just went through this hassel as well but I found out not all the starters are interchangeable. I will give you a for instance.
My 67 b body takes a uni 244 1044 from Napa and my 66 valiant does not.
2 different engines the 66 has a 225 and the Belvedere II has a 273.
I did a lot of research and I found out that they should both be the same,
UNLESS
Your 225 was built in Canada
The Canadian 225 starter has 9 splines and the American has 11
The reason all my research is wrong is because all the software for ordering and researching part numbers is based in the good ol' US of A.
I guess we are just different. Now I have a Canadian starter and everything is hunky dory except for the extra shipping from Winnipeg .
