How’s he doing? Stuck on the mountain? Maybe surrounded by washed out roads?
We're all good here, my friend. Thanks so much for your concern!
Mostly we've had to deal with the usual foot of rain and power outages from downed trees.
Comparatively, our county got darn lucky (even though as of tonight, there's still over 300 families
without power).
The folks in the counties directly to our south fared much, much worse - and western NC is an absolute catastrophy.
I spent a good part of the afternoon helping with loading up bottled water and such in trucks headed
down that way (I've never seen so much bottled water in my life!), but they ran me off after a bit,
so I'll see what I can get into to help again tomorrow.
We do that around here - folks just show up and get to work, least as much as we can.
In the meantime, I'm desperately trying to get word back on the status of a good friend who went missing
when a factory in Erwin, TN was flash flooded and management didn't let the employees leave fast enough.
Tragically, a half dozen of them are known to have died, with another half-dozen unaccounted for....
and my friend Rick is the kind that would have stayed to the end, helping others to get out, so I'm very
concerned.
There's no cell service down there and they're not letting anyone into the area right now, so....
