Well, 7 pm on friday night and this feels so much like the night before the spring event that got rained out... The current weather forecast for this area has rain tonight into the morning. There's an 80% chance of raion at 6, 7 and 8am tomorrow morning dropping to a 30% chance from 9am till noon and then sunny and zero % chance from 1 pm on... Great forecast to start and event like this!!! High temp tomorrow is only going to hit 55 degrees....

The track is still following the event program, no cancellations or planned delays. Steve did say that if it does get rained out they will hold it on Sunday but I suspect he will not make a call until mid morning tomorrow. It does look like worse case might be a couple hour delay for things to really fire up if it is raining in the early am..
There is an event "Hotline" you can call to get any updates 910-582-3400
My plan is to be ready to be there around 8am with my car unless it is raining hard, then I am sitting tight for a bit to see what it does. If it lets up mid morning I'll still go up - unless they cancel. Worse part of this is for the show cars I think. If you're in a covered trailer it is no issue but if you are driving or on an open trailer in the rain your car will be all **** for the show.:blob8:

Well,, 7:30 am Saturday. Raining outside. Just called the track and they are still on. The weather forecast revised a bit from last night showing the rains stopping a bit earlier. By their guesses it shows rain stopping around 9 am and then starting to clear. Soooo, I would say that the event will go on, albeit I suspect it will delay things some. I know I am not going to drive my car up for the show in the rain so I'm waiting a bit to see.

Thought I would post a final update on the event. As predicted (believe it or not :))the rain did stop by 9 am and clearing started. Sun was out some by noon but it stayed breezy and quite cool the whole day. Turnout, as you would expect, was down in all areas, show, race and swap.

There were about 25-26 classics that showed up for the show, maybe 6-8 trucks and about a dozen LC/LX cars so maybe 45 or so total. A few really nice old classics including a gorgeous 1970 orange GTX and a beautiful 67 Satellite (or Coronet??) convertable Hemi, 4 spd car - both full stock. Quite a few (given the turnout) older Challengers. On the new car front "my" new car was there - a Green with Envy 2011 SRT8 with 6 spd ---- just gotta find a way to get one! Also a Chally and Charger with super chargers on them.

The old Savoy took 1st in B Mod (out of three cars I think) -- but also took best of show!! My real high light was a fellow from Mopar Action was there and wanted to do a photo shoot of my car later in the day and took my name and phone number down - but never called :( That would have been neat to get it in the magazine!!

So all in all it was not near what everyone had hoped for but being a Mopar event was still fun. Some good racing, some nice cars and I came home with an empty cooler and a couple of trophies...

There too, agree on the few good looking classics-tooo many late model- sorry I'm so biased....
Great racing for the most part- how bout that launching 72 RR ?
He needs a pilots license!!!
