I was a big fan of the Hillbillies when they were new and I was a kid. Now, I enjoy watching the reruns on ME-TV in the mornings. I see that Miss Hathaway always had B Body 'verts until the last season. Lots of scenes where she is shown coming into a scene in a 62 Sport Fury, but then it is a 63 Polara when it arrives. I have seen a couple episodes where she has a 64 Dodge. There are many of the color episodes where she drives a red 65 Coronet 500, and then a red 68 Coronet 500 later. The latest ones had her in a red 71 Challenger. It took a while before I realized something looked wrong. Then it hit...the high back seats were not there. After watching several episodes, I finally got a good look at the Challenger, and the bucket seats appear to be the 64 Sport Fury style. I guess they didn't want the high back to obscure filming back seat passengers. And of course the show had lots of cool B body cop cars and taxis. The big C bodies were cool too, especially Drysdale's Imperials!

Pics. Somebody please.

The '68 Coronet 500 convertible in the show was at a Kruse auction in OKC about 12 or so years ago. They had the proof that it was her car in the show - not that it necessarily helped the value. It was in pretty good shape and had been kept up well. A 318 car, IIRC.

The show was on for nine seasons; from 1962 - 1971.

Here is that Challenger - WITH the low-back buckets! I can see why the producers wanted the high-backs out of the car - you'd never have been able to see the rear seat passenger.

That's very cool. I had forgot about some of those cars they had on the show.

What's the car outside the cabin? A Tempest?

George Barris had his hand in a lot including the original truck!

The early episodes are airing now. This morning, an IRS agent showed up, and Grannny ran the "Revenuer" off with a shotgun. He was driving a 63 Valiant convertible. I especially like the big 62 New Yorker from the pilot episodes, as we had a 62 Chrysler when I was growing up....

You sure couldn't have a granny runnin around with a shotgun on any sitcom today. Really sad!

I remember Miss Jane driving the red '65 Coronet convertible in several episodes. I didn't remember her driving the Challenger before this thread. Maybe I wasn't watching it much anymore during those years. Good eye on the seats, Dad.

The Mod Squad is another one with nice Mopars in the episodes starting around '69. They had Fords before that. They drove a red '70 Challenger RT convertible with red interior for awhile. They did have the high back buckets in that car. I could never quite make out the engine callout emblems on the power bulge hood. Too blurry all the time. In '71 they drove a green Challenger that had RT stripes but no RT letters at the end of the stripes on the quarters. That car had a flat hood, but it had hood pins - interesting. In one 1971 episode Julie drove a '70 GTX, 440 car. No Air Grabber, no chrome exhaust tips, but it had stripes and a column shift Torqueflite. It was on MeTV every weekday for awhile, but now just Sunday afternoons.

These old shows are a lot of fun to watch for the cars.

Big, Bad Dad.
I want to ask only you since people could ruin your thread about cars with a flame war.
What did you think of the movie? I think they ruined a sacrosanct, good show.
IIRC, I was appalled and almost walked out.
In the first place Ellie Mae would have never kicked a bear in the groin.
Low humor attempt.
In the second place Cloris Leachman is a very talented, multiple Emmy winning actress.
And they reduced Granny's character to a bit part.

What is there to flame about? I saw the movie years ago, the one with the "Hey Vern" guy as Jed. It was amusing, but like most "sequels", could not compare to the original!

Watched a "Petticoat Junction" rerun yesterday. The girls were in a beauty pageant sponsored by a car dealer. At the award ceremony, the background was a brand new red 69 Barracuda 'vert, and a turquoise 69 Road Runner. The 'Runner had the 5 spoke road wheel and red line tires, which really popped out in the scene!

I'm really getting into watching these old shows. They are currently rerunning "Mayberry RFD" at nights. This was a sequel series to the Andy Griffith show. Chryco supplied the vehicles for it. They usually have new 4 door Coronets, Satellites, and Valiants. But Sam also has a beautiful brand new 68ish Sweptline pickup that I drool over. Goober's shop truck is a pink early 50's Dodge with a wrecker boom, and Emmett drives a 49 or 50ish Dodge or Plymouth.
