I have a 1973 400 motorhome engine that i bought to clean up and put in my car (low miles 70,000), I cant seem to find any real info on the heads it just tells me motorhome heads, has anyone used these? Hopefully they work cause im about to put it in the car. thanks.

Of course they'll work. Motorhome heads are not much different than standard 452's (basically 906's with hardened seats) except for the cooling passages around the spark plug holes. They might not even be motorhome heads at all - not all motorhomes had them. They're open chambered heads and on a '73 400 you'll be lucky to have 8.5:1 CR so don't expect stellar performance. Choose the cam wisely (the stock cam would be a safe bet) to keep the cylinder pressure as high as possible and it should be a fun engine to cruise around with.

Are they small plug heads? Don't know for sure but was told taper seat were motorhome.

Yeah i bought a little summit cam to spruce it up a little with a intake and headers, just needs to get me around throught the up coming summer.

I don't know for sure but that would make perfect sense being that the purpose of the extra cooling passages was to pull heat from the plug and a tapered plug would be better at conducting heat than a gasketed (metal ring) plug.

Cool. Let us know how it works out. Pics and/or video is always a +

Just finished my new cam/lifters with a new timing chain. I went ahead and pulled oil pan cleaned and replaced the gasket. Just need my valve covers and intake from powder coating, hope to have some pictures by end of week.
