Hey guys Just wondering what to do for the easyest way to install my motor? I recently had my big block rebuilt for my 74RR and I took it out with the trans disconnected threw the top out the hood. Just wondering If you guy think it would be easyer to install with the trans hooked up to it and drop it in all at once? So i don't have to wrestle the trans back on the motor in the car. What are your guys thought? Thanks

It would be easier with them separated..... Only reason i say this, theres less mass floating around on a chain. And way less chance of you marring up fresh paint and or sheet metal. A little bit more time consuming, but personaly. I like installing them separate.

i installed mine as a unit.thanx to someone on this site i jacked the rear of the car way up,and went in no problem.

I have installed them together with no problem using an engine leveller. I leave the oil filter, water pump and pulleys off and put old blankets on the firewall and inner fenders.

The height of the car could be the difference. As Bill said, a leveler is a great tool. If the car is low, then a piece of carpet can make a great slider for the tranny tail.

not to toot my own horn, but I recommended this... it works beautifully. I dont get the credit though, I got the idea from moparstuart who "has" to do this to get his engine in his superbird.

I really need to make one of those dollies....oh, and get a car lift. :(
