I know that the Motown Missles were not b bodies, but what if one came up for sale on Craigslist. One did on the Columbus, Ohio Craigslist just a couple of days ago. Talk about a famous car, and that one is.

Says it is a 74 Model . Hmmm, I thought that the Missile was renamed the "Mopar Missile" by this time ? I would be looking for provenance on this thing.

I find it hard to believe that THE Mowtown Missile (as in one of the real cars) would end up on CL.

I believe there are several, and the guys that own them have plenty of documentation.

This is a documented car that was driven by Mike Fons , and is as real as it gets.

I'm shocked to see it back in Ohio. I thought that car was never coming back to Ohio with the Krishner family.

Huuuum that's an A-Body Mopar Missile, Duster not just only an E-Body, you just contradicted yourself...

Melrose Missile differt deal alltogether

The Point I Was Trying To Make Budnicks Was The Fact That Everybody Was Building Race Cars Year After Year And The Names Seemed To Stay The Same. Yes, Your Right! There Is Duster In There Too! I Completely Forgot About That. But The Melrose Missile Was The First Missile Car! They Followed Each Other But Kept The Same Missile Names!

yeah I wasn't doubting it, many years & many makes of the Missiles, Dodge & Plymouth, named Melrose Missile, Mighty Missile, Mopar Missile, Motown Missile Chrysler/Mopar Race teams etc., Different drivers too like Bob Bandoff & Barny Oldfield, not exclusively Don Carlton & others etc... A, B & E bodies... Yes I agreed & clarified

The story I heard was Motown Missile was changed to the Mopar Missile because Barry Gordy of Motown Records fame apparently TM'd the name Motown and threatened to sue Chrysler.
The Melrose Missile as you know was out of Cali. and if I'm not mistaking the Mighty Missile was Judy Lilly.
As far as the drivers for the Motown Missile the only two drivers I've ever known of were Don Carlton and Mike Fons.... I'm not sure Sox might have driven the Colt once I know he and Carlton both drove a Rod Shop Colt.

The car that Larry originally posted about is an original Motown Missile driven by Mike Fons.

I'm still wondering when it found it's way back into Ohio... The last I heard was it was somewhere in Jersey when the owner passed away un expectedly.

Seeing how we are talking about all "Missle" cars now, back in 1972, I bought a 67Hemi Belvedere called "The Harrisburg Missle". It had a giant missle on the sides and was raced by a guy by the name of Ray Christian, out of Harrisburg, Ohio.

when you say you bought the car, do you mean that you wrote the guy a check, he cashed it, then you never saw him or the car again...kinda like sled city did to me. be very careful dealing with this crook
