Put out a rat trap once. A big one. Next day found the rat near the top of a 5 foot chain link fence with the trap snapped on his neck making his escape. Lot of respect for them critters.

I have the electronic hypersonic generators that plug into an outlet, they were in the garage when I bought the house. Dryer sheets seem to work well for me so far along with the noise generators, but once in a while I'll find a mouse in my car wash bucket - I started keeping a lid on it to keep them out, actually. I keep a 5 gal bucket of plain ol' antifreeze - the sweet smell gets them, no PB required (but I do like the log-roll setups!). Knock on wood, the worst I've found after nearly 10 years in this house, is some shredded paper towels in the trunk of my '91 Daytona after one winter's storage session...and a penchant for chewing the seat belts inside the quarter panel trim. (I packed the quarters with dryer sheets once I installed replacement belts). So far, though, that's been the worst of it.

Dryer sheets were always the go-to at an RV dealer where I used to work. The recommendation was "Bounce" brand, for whatever reason... Also stories about cayenne pepper, sprinkled around the perimeter of what you wanted to protect.

i finally got him ! nutella on a snap trap, when i found him, still alive, was jumping almost a foot in the air with trap on his neck!, 3 shots 22 rat shot point blank range, just bounced off him, had to use a 22 slug to kill him. been trying to kill this sucker for a year !

Wow, that's a persistent little bastard. Hang him by his tail by the door, so all the other rats in the area know what's up - like they used to do in medieval times after killing enemy soldiers. Stake 'em up and let 'em rot, as a warning to others.

My shop is literally in the woods. I just use D-con in bait traps nailed to a board around the foundation. In 4 years never had a mouse inside. Around my house I have some storage bins. Seems the mice always go there first. Mouse trap with bacon secured with a sewing thread (just wrap the string around the bacon on the trigger and tangles in their teeth) takes care of them.

Run a wire across a pail, first put 2 holes for the wire to go through. Put a pop can lengthwise on the wire. Put peanut butter on the can. Put a mix of antifreeze in the pail. Put a stick/board from the floor to the lip of the pail, from the outside. Walk away.

I'm going to make one of these today. The only good mouse is a dead mouse.
