Mouse Prevention

Hello everyone,

As winter fast approches, I scored storage in a brick garage near home for 2 cars, which lets me keep my 2 car garage open to work on another.
My concern is: how are you all keeping the mice from invading your stored vehicles? I've heard drier sheets, mothballs, Irish Spring soap,etc
What really works?

I use the dryer sheets , have worrks well , put them in you exhaust tips and under the hood , and in trunk . As well as several in the car , above the visor and under the seats . A bonus is your cars smells dryer fresh too LOL

Moth balls but in spring Fa-breeze helps get the moth ball odor out.
Lots of traps around the cars.

Mice/Rats/rodents, UGH!!!! I hate 'em. My GTX was not only a rust bucket, but a Rodent bucket too! The inner C pillars is a FAVORITE place for them, it's atop the inner fenders, behind the qrt panel, under the roof, it's got potential to be warm, dry and they take their nesting crap there with them. Also, in the rocker panels they love. If your inner fenders are rusted (many are) they find a way in there, deep in there, past the baffling systems, their turds, nesting material, etc is in there. Getting it out is not fun, wear a mask, potential for diseases is high.

Here's what I'm talking about; rodent residue, everywhere. This is the inner area of the qtr/inner fender. Yukk!!!

I use carpet fresh powder on the interior (the strongest smelling type) and bounce dryer sheets around the engine and it doesn't hurt to put a bunch of glue traps around the car.

I just read an article in our local paper (The Hartford Courant) last Saturday about keeping mice out of your garage. What they said works the best is to use peppermint oil. You need to use the real thing not extract. There is also a place online that sells some kind of peppermint oil "tea bags" that you hang around and it will keep the mice away. Quite a few people wrote in and said the peppermint oil works great. You can buy the peppermint oil online or at a health food store.

It is supposed to be a smell that Mickey and Minnie can't stand. I don't know if it works, but I am planning on trying it.
