I am thinking of trying this single plane intake on my 63 to see if the combo likes it. Its one of the only single planes that will fit under my hood and I have heard its a very good single plane on par with the Victor on hp output. I am curious if anyone has heard much about them or even used one. I am thinking my 63 will mph more with it but will it kill off any of my 60 ft times on the low end ? I have wanted to try a single plane to see if the car likes it. I am more old school when it comes to racing and like to do it like we did in the old days when it comes to racing. You know...........bolt it on and if it goes faster leave it on if not take it back off. Its a 3700 lb B-body with a 440/493 wedge eng and I use 4.30's with 30" tires. Also use a 9.5 Lupo Dynamic converter that flashes about 4200. You can click the 62 to 65 link in my sig to read more info on the car if you like. Thanks , Ron

Ron, I can't answer the question but I do like your style. That is the way I did it and I still have fun doing it that way. Try it out!

I'd guess, it's just that a guess, probably only nominal differences, "maybe" 10-15 hp differences,

A bigger/better carb change & manifold change, could be considerably different thou,
really depends on what carb, how much CFM {how it's actually tuned} & what changes have been done
& if you really needs more CFM or if your already at the optimum tuning & carb size etc.,
IMHFO it needs to be done on similar days & in similar track conditions/weather etc.,
to get areal world comparison on the track, with at-least 3 runs of each at optimum tuning,
back, to back, to back...

I don't really know anything about the MP337 single Plane intake manifolds, never used one...

Maybe some better MPH on midrange/top end, vs's the dual plane Street Dominator intake,
I'd guess probably little to no differences in 60ft times, that's been my experiences,
form swaping from dual plane to a single plane intake manifolds, BUT
I've almost always used some kind of heat shield &/or 1"-2" Carb Spacer open or 4 port tapered too thou,
which will change the characteristics of a dual plane manifold too, so there will be a little different effects...

Like you said you don't know unless you try... different engine combos like different things

There's a couple of really good articles in Hot Rod Part 1 & Part 2 Mopar Intake Comparisons, back around 2008ish IIRC on a bunch of different intake comparisons, what does what & where it helps etc., it's on a 383 with a mid size cam & hopped up some, but still good relative information...

There's another one from the Engine Master Challenges

There's also a couple of good "old" (2006) write up & comparison articles in Mopar Muscle Mag. too
"Max Wedge On A Bench" using INDY EZ Heads 505ci BB & a plethora of intake manifolds
http://www.moparmusclemagazine.com/techarticles/mopp_0701_mopar_intake_manifold/
there're a few others too, some are older info, but still good information/cause & effect of different type of Mopar induction/intake systems...

Google Search "Mopar Intake Manifold Comparison"

I wish member IQ52/Jim would chime in more... he could be some great help,
he ports heads & builds engines Professionally {very well I may add}, he's tried a bunch of different stuff in the
he has done a bunch of dyno tests on a bunch of different heads & intake combos...
He's built some big HP Mopar BB wedge engines for the Engine Masters Challenges too,
under some stringent rules & budget constraints...

Hey Ron:

Just removed an MP337 manifold from my 64 after running it for the first half of the season...

Over the winter I upgraded my 505 to Indy EZ heads, max wedge ported by Modern Cylinder Head and installed the MP337 manifold with same HP950 as previously run with RPM heads and Torker intake.

I didn't lose any 60ft but I'm a little slower than you with 2800 stall convertor and 3.73 gears....1.57 sec.

For whatever reason, this upgrade made the engine very rich and I had to back up in jet size...I have an air/fuel monitor

Mopar muscle mag tested a 505 stroker with both a super victor and this manifold and the MP337 made more horsepower..albeit at higher RPM

I milled the lower valley plate off of the manifold on my Bridgeport

The manifold worked well for me but I've changed to a super victor and Quick Fuel 4500...

If you need more info, let me know...

Splicer

"splicer" any info you have about it would be greatly appreciated. I really want to try a bigger carb but at the moment cant get my hands on one. I wish I had more room under my hood to try a few different intakes but I wont put a taller scoop on it as I like the original size scoop and dont care as much for these taller Max Wedge scoops I see today. It may be its fastest now with the Indy dual plane but its only one way to find out. I guess its just the gearheadness coming out in me as it seems to make us always want to see if something will make our cars faster. I just cant help myself ! LoL ! Thanks for the replies and info. Ron
