I'm upgrading the 65 Coronet to a dual exhaust system It will be the same system I had on my 64 Belvedere before it burned in a storage fire. Manifolds into a 2.5 inch x-pipe through the muffs into TTI 2.5 tailpipes. On the last one, I had thrush turbos and the drone was so loud the kids didn't even want to get into the car. I'm looking at the Dynomax super turbos as they are supposed to be a lot quieter and less drone. I'm not interested in Flowmasters either. Anyhow, The case length is 19 inches for an overall length of about 25 inches. Will these fit under the car? The Thrushes were 5 inches shorter overall. What do you guys use?

Mangaflow is known for producing little to no drone, might want to check them out

the dynomax hemi super turbos are identical in length-width to a stock hemi muffler and can be bought in 2 1/2" i.d.

I bought these tail pipes for my '62 from Summit. Don't know if they are cheaper than tti. They fit great.

I bought a cheap set of mufflers from Jegs. They are just baffled with no insulation so I don't know how they are going to sound. The X pipe should eliminate any drone with most mufflers.

After many years of hanging exhausts and mufflers on cars I've turned away from the highly advertised "gotta have it" brands and switched to Borla. That's what are on my 64 Fairlane, 65 Fury and Coronet. The price is right, the quality is excellent and the sound is superb with little to no drone but a nice low note. They don't cackle either. Being totally reversible is also a big plus and gives good options for complicated floor pans. I use TTI on both my Mopars and the muffler fit as if you bought a complete TTI system. Oh, if possible use band clamps for future removal and servicing.

I have Dynomax right now and am having drone between 1800-2100 rpm. I also posted about this on another mopar forum http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads...recommend-for-ones-that-dont.html#Post2298641
And here is what responders had to say. I'm still not sure what direction I'm going, but am glad you started a post here too. For me, no drone is important as I actually want my wife to come cruise with me too. I'm leaning towards a stock solution but now need to find a quiet muffler in 2.5" Inlet and outlet ad the system is new and I don't want to redo the whole thing.

I'll be watching this thread!

I already have the pipes. Only thing changing is the mufflers as the 30 buck thrush turbos were resonating like crazy. I use band clamps at the back of the mufflers and turbo flange style V bands in front of muffs. at the front of the x pipe I use header style ball flanges. This setup allows me to easily drop the x pipe out if I need to do trans work. 2 clamps and 6 bolts and it's off. the thrushes were 14 inch cases I think and the dynomax are 19ish...

I had flow master and the drone was so bad after 1 month I changed to Pypes race mufflers, no drone and quiet as long as your not on it. My exhaust dumps in front of rear end with turn downs.
Made someone a hell of a deal on flow masters $30 for both glade their gone.

I got TTI 2 inch primary headers. With 3 inch exhaust. And a set of Dynomax they drone at about 18 to 2500 RPMs but they do look good.

2 1/2" dual with H pipe here running through Ultra Flows and they drone between 2000 and 2200 RPM. Highway cruise with 3.23s is 2800rpm at 65ish.
