Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals

The premiere indoor Musclecar shows 15th anniversary will be at the Donald E Stephan’s convention center in Rosemont IL. The convention center is located in an entertainment district just east of the O’Hare airport adjacent to the I-294 tollway and the Kennedy expressway. There are a number of hotels adjacent to the convention center.

Yep a friend of mine here in SC just headed that way for it. Driving his 64 vett.He just drove 1300 miles on it last month.

Is he stopping along the way for a couple of months, Dave?

Setup for the show doesn't start until November 21st, so he can take his time with his trip up north!

Nope, spend the week and drive back. Pat is 74 and does it all the time. I think last month they had some drag week or chevy show there . He drove up stayed the week and came home.

But he just left for it? It's 2 months away. What am I missing other than I'm old and it's getting late. LOL

Ahhh - that explains it! This is the one in Chicago the weekend before Thanksgiving.

On a side note, my ‘70 Challenger convertible’s 55th “birthday” is B24, which is November 24, Sunday of the show.
It’ll be in Mopar Alley to celebrate her big double nickel.
She’s aging a lot better than me….
Feel free to bring presents for the birthday girl!

Love the colors! Same as my old '70 GTX, originally. FK5 inside and out.

For those not on the subscription list for the MCACN show magazine, which was mailed out a couple weeks ago, here is a link to read it online:

I attended the employee meeting yesterday and this years show sounds like it’ll be great once again! The Mopar Alley display is going to the biggest it’s ever been with 40 cars registered for it. There’s going to be a big A12 and hemi feature. A display with factory lightweights along with an engine display is generating a lot of excitement. Barnfinds was already booked full by spring and some of the cars in it are said to be mind blowing. Hard to believe the show is only a couple weeks from now!

1 week to go!
Here is an interesting podcast interview of Bob Ashton talking about the features and invitationals for this years event.

I'll be there! Flying in from the NYC area, can't wait! Really looking forward to seeing the factory lightweight cars.

I’m heading out in a few minutes for first day of setup.
Weather today sounds horrible with our first snowfall.
Arghh!
Fortunately it’s forecast to warm up a bit this evening and melt what snow we get, and be dry through the weekend.
I’m supposed to get my car there tomorrow and assuming they’ll salt the roads. So even though I’m really close by, I have to get trailered there as my plans to drive it there are fubared assuming they salt.

The best car show I have ever attended, hands down and dropping the mic. So much to see and glee over. It truly is the Super Bowl galore of Muscle cars and factory racers. All makes, all united. WOW! Pictures to follow by either RMCHGR or myself.

I’m getting ready for the last day of the show. Been a long 3 days there so far but even after being there 2 days of setup and the first day of show I haven’t seen everything!
I ended up having someone trailer my car there Friday rather than drive it in, since there had been some salt put down on the roads Thursday when we had our first snow.
Hopefully I’ll get it home safe tonight!
I’ve taken hundreds of pics and will edit and organize them in my Flickr site in coming days and share links to the albums when I do.

Incredible show. Honestly, it was nothing short of mind boggling. It’s going to take a while to digest the whole thing.

Met up with a lot of friends from the east coast, it was almost like being at home. Met a lot of really cool people too and heard some incredible stories. I’ll be going back for sure.

I have over 300 pics I’ll share later on.
