Hello All, Just joined the forum and looking forward to advice as i build my car out. I picked up a 1973 Dodge charger with a 440 a couple months back. It was originally a 318 car but some one stuck a 1973 440 in it with a voodoo cam and Keith black internals. Its deffinelty not showroom perfect. Its been painted Sublime green and the wiring is a total hack. I have already replaced the drivers side floor pan, installed a B&M quick shift, new carpet, headliner, autometer triple gauges and tach. New master, booster and front calipers. New transmition mount. it needs body work for sure lots of bondo under that green.

Thanks its a real mess right now, But I need to keep my improvements to the winter time ( i am in maine) as i want to enjoy it in the summer and not have it become a shop project for years.
So this last winter it was floor, breaks, interior ..some wiring etc, just to make it drivable and enjoyable for this season.

I do have a single wire alternator to put in, alt jumps all over the place( it might just be a bad ammeter and i need to put the two leads on one post) Oh and a new radio the rally dash is not all cut up so i ordered a refurbished factory one with aux imput and bluetooth etc

the wiring is a total hack

Welcome to the place that can really help. 71-73 Chargers always bring fond memories of the 71 Charger R/T I bought at 16 yrs old in 1978. They especially look good with really wide tires under the rear quarters.
Please make sure your investment is protected! I quoted you regarding the "wiring is a total hack" to say look for fuseable links, fuses, etc that would blow before any wiring could cause a fire, and I keep a good, red colored A/B/C fire extinguisher in both of our classic muscle cars, the size that hang on the walls in so many buildings.

it is fused and i do have a fire extinguisher ready to be mounted inside, but when who ever replaced the engine they really hacked up the wiring and color coded wires are no longer valid. One of the last chores before getting it out is making sure all grounds are attached and there are no lose live wires hanging out anywere.
