My "Free" 68 Road Runner

Keep digging around there, you might find the engine too. Make it first priority to get some document of ownership! Cool find...

From looking at those pictures of all the crap inside the car, I would NEVER have guessed that it was such a rust-free car. You are one lucky son-of-a-gun. Anxious to see this come to life.

Geez, that thing is solid...also being buried under vegetation probably helped preserve it from being fried to a crisp in the sun over the last 20 something years. What a cool find,a 68 hardtop RR with nice options and only missing a motor.

I was seriously thinking the same thing

That does have to be one of the coolest finds ive seen in a long time to be that good and she really is a solid looking ride! Who knows, you just may find the engine hiding there someplace... :)

Concur Ron! X2

Bill is pretty sure that one of his scrapper friends came by one day and took the block. However all the other parts are accounted for such as the carb, intake, oil pan, cam, accessories (alt, power steering, pulleys), etc. Basically the entire engine minus the block.

I know so far this has been a rather uneventful thread but until I get the car off the property I can't really do much.

But today, for the first time in probably 10+ years, she is a roller! I've had these old Grand Cherokee wheels laying around from when I put bigger tires on my ZJ and they just so happen to fit.

Seems the previous owner had a hatred for cats?

The sticker on the right says "Curiosity didn't kill the cat, my car did!!!" The 3 exclamation marks indicate that this is indeed a funny statement and it is meant to be read aloud with high volume and much vigor.

I have no idea what the left one says.

I dislike the person who put that bumper sticker on this vehicle with 3 exclamation marks

I agree with tallhair.

I think the left one says 'you can't argue with a sick mind', which might explain it.

Meanwhile...get that car outta there!

Not a big update but an update none the less. The car is still in the same spot but it's hood and fenders are in place and it looks like a car again for the first time in a long time.

Also, just so you guys don't think that we're slacking on the cleanup, here is a panorama view of about half the yard. The other half is in front of the house and washed out by the light. Just to get the car out it has to come toward the camera (where the big pile of wood is) then out towards the washed out area of the picture. In that area is 3 trucks, misc stuff, and a "garden".

Still a lot of work to do but believe it or not it finally looks like progress is getting made. The light is at the end of the tunnel, way way down at the other end.

Looks like a lot of work to do yet....I hope that tunnel don't disappear on you after all the effort. :headbang:

Great car! If it was me. I would rent a Bobcat and clear a path and after the car was home, I'd come back to help clean up. I've seen too many deals go up in smoke because of waiting situations. Somebody sees it together and who knows.................:sad6:

I agree! at least get something in writing agreement with serial numbers and date. I have seen bad things happen - even among best friends. The guy could die or someone come along and offer tempting money for it. Money will make people do bad things. I know, I just took a friend to court because he got greedy.....................MO

Things are coming along nicely with the cleanup. A few posts up showed a panorama from a few months back, imagine that the wood pile is gone, the area it was in is cleaned (tub and stuff removed), the right side with the trees and wood structures is gone, one of the 60's chevy pickups is gone, the vw bus is gone, the Suzuki in the driveway is gone, the old fence is gone, the new one is up (a company put the new one up) and the front yard is 100% clear. The front yard and fence is what we worked on for the last two months and was the biggest thing on the list to do to get the land up to code. The city is no longer threatening to take the land but we still have a list of things to get done before the coast is clear.

And look what turned up!

Found that little guy hiding under a large pile of brush that Bill had been sweeping tree branches and debris onto for the last 20ish or so years.

I don't want to count my chickens yet but I think the car will be free of it's prison before september rolls around. :headbang:

glad to hear this, been wondering how you were making out.
