I saw that a bunch of guys are using some kind of pop off valve with this style intake. Said it was used to protect the intake/carbs in case of a back fire. Does anyone know anything about this set up?

I have not used that manifold but I use to use a couple of Edelbrock STR-14 & STR-15 on both B & RB combos, both had pop off valves installed, never had any issues but, never had any serious backfires either. I did run N20 so it was cheap insurance just incase I had a big N20 backfire it would save the manifolds.
