Im in the works for my next restoration. Looks like I'm going to do it.
Im doing a deal for a older Lincoln SA 200 welder. A guy has one and its on a trailer.
God only knows how many of these welders Lincoln sold over the years. The older ones like the one im thinking of getting have a big following.
They were the pipe liners welder to have. I know the latest models had diesel engines but the older ones have a flathead 4 cylinder gas engine.
I love the sound of that engine, you could run that machine all day every day
The older ones had all copper windings, They generated only DC and they are famous for a stable arc which made them the darling of Pipe welders.
Today everyone wants a Diesel drive and AC power for lights and tools
I had a SA200 for some years and sold it when I went to a single rear wheel smaller truck
Im planning on restoring this one to from the new factory condition.
Im seriously thinking that 2021 is my last year of welding fab work. I will be 69 in two months and its been a long road.
Im swapping a guy im friends with my Lincoln Ranger 275, which is a two cylinder air cooled CC/CV machine. A excellent machine that can weld 5/32 wire all day long
Im giving the guy my LN 25 wire feeder and a spool gun.
He is getting a score and he knows it.
The thing is he is a young guy and wants to do what I did and that's hustle.
He'll be doing what I did all those years and thats work two jobs, so he doesn't need a water cooled machine and my machine is more suited for a average pickup truck.
I told my wife my plans to restore this old welder, she thinks im crazy and wants to know what im going to do with it when its done. I told her I have no idea and she shook her head.
Women just dont understand.
