my oil did WHAT !!!

Interesting vid. Sometime ago, researched the pro/con's of racing oil and one of those talked about hi-viz oils not suggested for street driving; but for racing. Bearing setups have their factoring. I did this research hunting for engine overheating gremlins finding discussion about higher viz oils contributing to higher engine heat...and I don't race my car. Had been running 20/50 for a while after rebuild including boring. Oil pressure was always quite high, wrote those numbers down, but not handy here. Switched to 10/30. It seemed to have the effect I was looking for as motor temp was lower as well as oil press ranges closer to where I figured they should be. Did this actually do the deed? Not sure as had done a number of things to improve engine cooling...

Did this actually do the deed?
I played the viscosity game when I was drag racing.Started out at 20/50 then 10/40 then 10/30.
Last was 20/20 .I really didn't see much of a change but there was a change that was minor. Being a bracket car I was just having fun.
Now guys looking for the last 100 thousands of a second it can be beneficial. I knew guys in Stock class run very light weight oil to gain a bit. Anything to gain the edge between winning or loss.

I run a 20-50 oil in a 360 AMC
Jeep CJ.
Not necessarily a performance
engine. Low idle rpm's at 200 deg
average while crawling over stuff
in New Mexico's SE deserts.
Came time for a valve job and after
pulling the heads, found there was
no ridge at the top of the cylinders.
Still runs 60 psi oil pressure after
75,000 miles. No lifter rattle at
start up, hot or cold ambient
temps.

Around 25 years ago I was told that Kendall Racing oil was the ticket for my new engine if I was going racing (a one-off at the drags) ....the stuff was no thicker than transmission fluid...Dexron III at that.
All it achieved was making dozens of holes and leaks around any gasket that wasn't 101% perfectly mated to a surface. That stuff pissed out everywhere.

I couldn't wait to get it out and replace with some decent oil.

Great Video - Thanx for posting
