Hello I recently built a 5.7 Hemi it started before Covid and didn't finish it up till a few months ago finding parts and Having parts custom made has been painful especially ARP Head bolts.
Originally the Original 5.7 dropped a Intake valve seat which tore things up preaty good trashing #7 Piston and the head But the project came with a fresh set of mopar Eagle heads.
The Bore of all the cylinders wasn't bad it would have cleaned up with a light hone if it it wasn't for the valve damage in the one cylinder couple of light nicks in the bore.
I knew because of damage I was gonna bore it so go big or go home so I ordered a new set of Racetech custom forged pistons and new Manley RODs and had the crank polished.
I also purchased a new cam from Comp eliminating / Deleting the MDS system p/n 112-303-11 lift .596 int .582 exh 220 and 230 duration.
I custom ordered The Pistons for the Heads and the CAM to its specs this required CC the Heads as I was modifiying the cumbustion chambers on the heads My self.
Heads CC ed out at 62 CC to begine with.
after the engine work I did increased The Combustion chamber a couple CC's I expected much more!!! final was 66 CC. While at the same time UN-shrowding the Intake and exhaust valves and tapering it all in to the cylinder combustion chamber line then polished it all together this I am sure made a big HP power increase I have to find pics of the finished combustion chambers up close.
The Eagle heads retaiended the stock size valves although new Stainless steel. new valve springs to match the cam and a new set of special Hell cat lifters. and a custom length Push rods.
The Push rods were the best part as I ordered a set from Chrysler for the Eagle heads, The Push rods worked! BUT One did measure .050 longer from ideal length which did work fine even for engine start up but I did order a custom legth .050 shorter I forget which int or exh? I will have to look if any one is interested ? I used a custom ordered .030 thick Cometic Head gaskets
I used the Comp Cam special double roller Timing chain dissapointed with that. Also installed a Melling Pump for it.
I used an Intake manifold I was told was the best flowing for the 392???? have no Idea ? I also installed Long tube headers on a truck they don't make headers for! That's another story!
The engine would fire and run after install. It did have to be tuned and and has a Driving tune on it now is what guy called it Not a true Dyno tune by a local in Las Vegas. It does seam to runn preaty good I must agree it does make good power even in the current hi temps and driving in 4x4 low on the trails it never gets Hot, always temp is rock steady stable on temp. Plus Zero eng detonation knock! Fuel economy is better in town and on the trail than hi way currently. Gets with the Program when I want it too theirs a lot left for a tunner with a 4x4 Dyno.
I could see me building one of these fairly radical Big boost
