My son was hit by a car on campus today. It's all okay.

tMy son Bryce is in his last semester a the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. The school is located on a bluff overlooking the city. I highly recommend it. Rather than pay the huge $$$ to park on campus he figured out a better way. There are ancillary parking lots that are free for students but they are quite far away. The mountain campus is too steep to ride a bike to class although the ride back down to the parking lot would be fun.

He found out mopeds under 50cc's were treated the same as bicycles. So he bought the kind of minibike advertised in every hardware store and beefed it up. The 250CC stickers were removed from the 6.5 Harbour Freight motor and he parks far away then yanks the Doodlebug out of the Ram truck and gets to campus fast.
So today when got home he explained how a car pulled out a side street going the wrong direction and tagged him with the car's front bumper pretty good. Knocked the bike and him over The driver was very frightened but Bryce was cool. He said he was going to use this incident to be a homework slacker for a while.

The minibike thing has caught on especially with the engineering students. They have all kinds of tricks to make them faster.

Being a dad is forever worrying. glad he's ok. I ride too, it's tough to stay on high alert and enjoy the ride too. My youngest is a mechanical engineer, 36 yr old and I still worry.

Its great he is okay. When I was young and lived in the sticks it was normal for us to put three on a honda 50 to keep from walking to the gas station, convenience store and bait store all in one to sell bottles to bye candy and cigs.

we lived about 8 miles from the nearest store
and used to do the exact same thing on a honda 50 to get there..

Glad he's ok .
People need to pay attention when there driving a car . The other day a young lady 20 years old got ran over a few blocks away by some punk kid in his Honda he wasn't looking at the road hit her and took off ! She is in icu the driver finally came back hours later and turned himself in !
My friends kids live on that same road and we're only 3 houses in from where this happened!
