My wife lost her younger brother

The thought of having to make a decision like that is unfathomable . . . that had to be difficult.

So sorry for your loss . . . Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers . . .

So sorry for your loss, my thoughts and prayers are with you and yours.

On Tuesday the 18th at around 19:30 my wife's brother was walking back to his residence when he was struck by a woman in a van. He sustained major internal injuries as well as a depressed skull fracture. His past was not any better than most of ours but he was making strides to better himself and getting his act together. The doctors and neurosurgeons did not give him a good chance of surviving and if he did, he would've been in a vegetative state. The machine was the only thing keeping him alive. The wife and I arrived at about 21:45 after I called her work and she stopped by to pick me up. After all the family members talked with the doctors and said their goodbye's, my wife's dad had to make the hardest decision a father can make. To take him off life support. He was pronounced dead 2 minutes later. I was glad that I was home for my time off to be there to support my wife. He was 38 and had a 10 year old daughter.

Sad story, may he Rest In Peace, you have my deepest heartfelt condolences go out to you & your family for the loss...

That is horrible, and I know that no words can make it better. Please accept my condolences - hug your father-in-law, your wife and a few other family members from all of us here at the forum...

My sympathies and prayers to your wife, you, and the rest of the family.

I appreciate all the thoughts and prayers from everybody. I will pass them on to my wife and her dad and family. I've known since I first joined on here that the members here will stick by you thru thick and thin.

I'm sure a few of us (well at least I am) are curious to know is there any indication as to why or how the woman struck her brother? Is she facing any legal consequences?

We are checking in with a lawyer, not for us but for his daughter so she can at least have something when she turns of age. My next thought is pure speculation that I talked about with my wife, but her brother has pissed off a lot of people in the past. (form your own conclusion). You would think that if you hit someone or something, your first response would be to hit the brakes not drive forward a little bit more. Maybe she panicked. But, we don't know all the details and the cops aren't releasing much either.

Sorry to hear of your loss. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.
