when narrowing a dana 60 truck housing, is there an advantage/disadvantage, to using the dana standard offset or making the axles housing tubes equal length? I think the std offset is 1 3/16 inch. TIA.

The whole drivetrain including the trans tunnel is off to the passenger side.. so if you center the u joint connection.....

You may be aware, but some truck housings have 3.5” axle tubes. I found out the hard way

I narrowed a 1 to Dodge truck axle for my Challenger. It is the thick wall thickness also. If I remember correctly it is 1/2" wall. Yes, I used the standard Chrysler off set when narrowing it to aligned with the rest of the drivetrain. I cut the full floating truck ends off, narrowed as needed, welded on the Strange Engineering Car ends.

Remember the pinion is offset in the housing and the axle tubes are not the same dimension anyway.
