Thanks guys, I need to put one on before winter and was not sure how it mounted. Is it split in half? does the split go center of the latch? Or can you buy one that is whole? how much 3m do you use? spots or bead all around?

That guy on ebay is way off lol wow

The seal comes in a roll. Apply a bead of 3M adhesive about one foot long and install the seal, when the adhesive has set up enough to hold the seal in place apply apply another foot of adhisive and seal, until you have gone all the way around. In dave5237's picture you can see where the seal seams together, about 4 inches to the right of the latch.

Mark with masking tape spots on the seal and on the car with lines. It is easy to Strech this gasket and have the tail be too long at the end. So DONT STRECH it when you put the 3m adhesive down. This is a two man job if you want it to look nice. You trim the end when your finished. I used the wooden clothes pins around th trunk during several dry runs before glueing it.

Just getting around to putting the seal on and was wondering if the bottom by the latch is like this guys or fits on the lip on the inner edge? see all kinds what is the correct fit? the grove goes on the edges right?

this is not my car

It goes on the edge above where he glued it. The sides are right but he should have followed the lip.

The flat edge goes in and seam is off set if you want to be correct, of course I may have done it wrong lol. I used about a hundred clothes pins to hold it as I worked around the edge, worked good. Went and stole them from Ma,s house, seriously who hangs up clothes outside anymore. Dont stretch it and do a short section at a time.

I have the same seal as Dave has in his pic, kind of a k shape with a groove, I thought the orange rr didn't look right and the seal seemed to fit better on the lip sort of, it's hard to tell but i can see what you guys are saying about gluing a small section t a time, just trying to fit it with clips is a pain I can imagine loads of glue all over the place lol. I like the offset from center too would make sense not to have any paths for leaks. Just need some glue and patience.

Yeah, he shoulda noticed that there is a notch on the weather stripping where it would follow the lip before it turns.

Take your time and do a dry run to make sure you know where you are going.

Good luck and have fun!!!

Last question, does the 3m glue go in the grove? or anywhere?
