I need some quick advice on selling a 360 engine. The deal is I've been wanting to replace the 360/727 in my 74 road runner with a 440/727. I planned on doing this later this spring, but I started looking around for engine and trannys, and came across a 72 440/727. The engine runs but needs some work done to it. The owner will sell the engine and tranny, or trade for an A727 tranny that he needs, which is what's in my car now. I called a local speed shop to get some idea of what they'll charge to do the work that I'm too frigging lazy to do, and as soon as I mentioned I wanted to swap out a 360 he got all excited because apparently they've had a Demon project on hold for a couple of months because the Demon owner wants a 360 put into his car and this is just one of those times when they just can't find one anywhere. He wants to know if I would be willing to sell the engine ASAP, and I told him I would love to and apply the money from the sale to getting the 440 running and swapped in... which sounded great to him. So what I'm thinking is I'll tell the speed shop to make a deal with their other customer for the price of the engine plus this other guy pays all the costs of removing the 360/727 and separating the engine and tranny, then I'll swap the tranny to the guy with the 440/727 and use the money I was going to pay him to go towards the 440 install. Problem is what do I ask for the 360? It's a strong running engine, but it came with the car so I don't know if the internals are stock or not. It has an Edelbrock Street Performer intake on it, so I'm guessing nothing too radical has been done to it. The engine doesn't burn any oil, and has been running like a top for the past year. I've found two 360s for sale, but neither is complete or in a car running, and the prices were $350 and $500. I was thinking of asking $750+shop fees and maybe going down to $650. Any opinions? Should I start higher?

Boy, if all the players pony up and do what they say they will do and everyone agrees to everything I'll be really surprised and you'll be super lucky. Good luck with this deal...
