my son who is in the navy found his dream car a 69 charger with an hp 383 and air. he knew it was going to need quarters floors and trunk floors, and possibly a new roof skin. the car turned out to be much rustier than described. the frame rails front and rear are almost completely rotted away along with the front and rear inner fenders. the roof is so rotted away that if it were to be reskinned there would be nothing to weld the skin to most peticularly around the rear window. there is nothing there to weld a roof skin, sail panels or filler panel to. can this inner structure be repaired, if so how? is there a kit for this or what? as far as the frame rails go I do have a line on a complete front end from the radiator to the dash. wha t would be the best way to make this repair and keep things in alignment. unless I know for sure tha this car as is can be repaired I will continue to look for 69 or 70 charger shell that has a good roof, frame rails and inner fenders. so far I haave had no luck over the past year. as far as the rest of the car goes the interior has been stripped but it has fairly solid doors, fenders and trunklid. has a good grill and front bumper. good taillights. about 3/4 of the exterior trim is there. it has a complete hp 383 with hp manifolds and auto trans and good 8 3/4 rear. it is an ac car but much of the ac parts are missing.

Most parts can be purchased from AMD.

Here's a 70 Charger shell down here in Utah.

I would tell him to find another dreamer, sell his car to them, and take that money and use it to buy a car in much better shape.

I would find another car also. With as much rust repair as you mentioned, you will be upside down in the car in short order. Even if you do all the metal replacement yourself and put no value on your time you will still be going backwards moneywise.

thanks car nut for the info. I am looking into buying that 70 project. i have most of the 69 parts that should be able to bolt right on to the 70. do you know if there are any other differences i need to be aware of to clone this 70 project into a 69. other than hood fenders, grill, grill support, bumper, wiring and vacuum hoses. i know the marker lights on the 70 are lights and the 69 are just reflectors but that will not be an issue. i know the car will not b a true 69 anymore but my son and i are not building it for any resale value.
