I think the pads were stamped starting in 68 or 69, so you might have a 67 or 68 trans.

When you say pre 68 do you mean the calender year or model year? Those Galen books say pad start on 68 but doesn't state calender or model year. Trying to clear up a conversation with a friend on this topic. Thanks.
