Hello all I've got a '65 Coronet currently with a 727 that I may have broken the band off second gear so my buddy is giving me a three speed he has sitting around. We have no idea what it came out of . I have to start ordering parts to get the swap started and I need to know what transmission I'm going to be working with.I also have pictures to post ,just have to load them from my phone. These are the numbers I pulled off this transmission, the numbers are as follows.

On the right side (passenger side):
c-99224-2

Right side raised pad :
1e152569
pp2303518
0168

Right side on tailshaft:
70 and a row of boxes with dots
3410276-1
05101

Left side on tailshaft is a hand written in what looks like paint marker number 300

On the front of the trans where the input shaft goes into the case, a cover bolts on:
c9479
11f6

Left (drivers side) by side cover and shift levers:
2-17-

The KEY number is the pp 230 indicating the common 70's 3 speed, used in A, E bodies.
The bigger question is why on earth would you even consider swapping the 230 trans for the 727 in your car. That is utterly a backwards swap. A huge costly effort to go backwards in strenght. If you want a manual, the only choice is an 833 4 speed, where it all will fit and have plenty of conversion parts available.
Save the synchros and shift forks out of the 230 and throw the rest out.

Thank you, this is what I needed to know. I have an a-833 OD I was planning on building up and putting that behind the 400 I have, I am going to be doing the auto to standard swap anyway. Currently I have a 318 poly with a 727 behind it, I was just going to use the 230 trans in question while I build the big block over the winter to buy me some time and not have a dead car sitting around. I paid too much to get the 727 built in the first place so I don't really want to get it rebuilt, I'm definitely going to save it just in case though. I didnt know the 230 was soo much weaker than the auto, it came with a smallblock bellhousing and everything to make it work. Which sucks because I have nothing for the 833 just the trans itself.

you will need a crankshaft for a manual transmission as well...the automatic cranks are not drilled out wide enough or deep enough for the input shaft of the manual transmissions
