just remeber your probably not the only one looking at it so you should act fast the car looks good for a grand but like others said he needs to be rid of it so low ball him and work up from there .
maybe join AAA not sure how it works up there but if you join you may get AAA to tow it home for free plus a discount on title transfer .

either way id get your brother to take a ride with you to look at ASAP .

The problem is, I can't look at it any sooner than this weekend, possibly even next week because my dad is away and he's the only one with access to my money. Plus, I have to convince him between Friday when he gets back and whatever day we go to check the car out. I shouldn't have to convince him, it's my money and I should be able to use it how I want, but he has it.

Also, I'm waiting on this guy to send me those pictures I asked for Monday. He's not making this any easier for me.

Keep in mind that $700 could easily, and I mean very easily, triple or more before you even get the car on the road. When was the last time it was registered and inspected? How strict are your state DMV requirements for inspection and registration for a daily driver, and don't forget about insurance. Not to be a downer, but the car will cost you big $$$ to maintain, so your dad certainly has your best interest in mind if he does not let you buy it.

Well, it being an antique in Connecticut there is no inspection. My brother just had to send them a couple pictures of his Challenger and they sent him plates as I recall.

My dad was talking about buying a cheap Ford Ranger or something to be my daily driver so the insurance wouldn't be ridiculous on the classic car. But I think that would be way too much of a hassle and end up costing more.

My thinking is that pretty much any car that I can afford, old or new(ish), will need money put into it. It's better to have a car that I can work on than one that's too complex and I'll have to bring to a garage.

I mean, there are ups and downs to both sides of the old vs. new argument. But I think if I don't make a decision and stick with it, nothing will get done because that's how it's always been with my parents. I'm 17 and I still don't have my license because I've been waiting on my parents. I need to get serious and show it, because at this rate it will take forever.

But I digress.
